Past: Reckoning with Roots and Lineages

Resonating with the Past

There are three chapters within Past: Reckoning with Roots and Lineages that resonated with me more than the others. The first one is learning to listen by Alexis Pauline Gumbs. It teaches me to listen with more than just my ears. The second one is Resilience Practice Building and Sustaining Our Resistance, it explores reflection of the roots for ones resistance to persevere. The final one is A House is a Temple: How Dance Music Culture Became a Refuge in the HIV/AIDS Epidemic by Kenyon Farrow. It explores clubs and house music as it created a space for safety and memorializing during the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
